Your trip starts in Marrakech and crosses the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Along the way, you will pass Berber villages, panoramic mountain roads, and the historic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah before reaching Ouarzazate.

The journey continues through the Draa Valley, one of the longest palm valleys in Morocco, before reaching Zagora and Mhamid El Ghizlane. From Mhamid, the route continues by 4×4 across desert tracks towards Erg Chigaga, a quiet desert area known for its wide dunes and remote Sahara atmosphere.

In Erg Chigaga, you will enjoy camel trekking, sunset views, traditional dinner, and an overnight stay in a desert camp. The return route passes through Lake Iriqui, Foum Zguid, Taznakht, and Ouarzazate before crossing the High Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech.

Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate

Your 5 Days Desert Tour From Marrakech to Erg Chigaga starts in the morning with pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech. We leave the city and drive towards the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass with several stops for panoramic views and photos.

Along the way, you will pass traditional Berber villages and mountain landscapes before reaching Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This ancient fortified village is one of the most famous kasbahs in Morocco and is known for its traditional earthen architecture.

After visiting Ait Ben Haddou, we continue to Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the desert. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel or riad in Ouarzazate.

Day 2: Ouarzazate - Draa Valley - Agdz - Zagora

After breakfast, we leave Ouarzazate and drive towards the Draa Valley. The road passes through Agdz and follows one of Morocco’s most beautiful palm valleys, with old kasbahs, southern villages, and desert landscapes along the way.

Several stops can be made to enjoy the palm groves and panoramic views. The journey continues through the valley road towards Zagora, a historic desert town linked to old caravan routes.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel or riad in Zagora.

Day 3: Zagora - Tamegroute - Mhamid - Erg Chigaga Desert

After breakfast, we continue south through the Draa Valley towards Mhamid El Ghizlane. On the way, we will stop in Tamegroute, a village known for its traditional pottery and old religious heritage.

After the visit, we continue through desert villages until reaching Mhamid, the last village before the open Sahara. From Mhamid, the journey continues by 4x4 across desert tracks, rocky plains, and sand landscapes towards Erg Chigaga.

Upon arrival in Erg Chigaga, you will ride camels across the dunes and enjoy the sunset over the Sahara. After the camel trek, you will return to the desert camp.

Dinner will be served at the camp. In the evening, you can relax under the stars and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the desert. Overnight stay will be in a desert tent.

Day 4: Erg Chigaga - Lake Iriqui - Foum Zguid - Taznakht - Ouarzazate

Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes before breakfast at the camp. After breakfast, we leave Erg Chigaga and drive across the desert tracks towards Lake Iriqui.

The route passes through dry lake landscapes, rocky desert plains, and remote Sahara scenery before reaching Foum Zguid, where the paved road begins again.

We continue towards Taznakht, a town known for traditional Moroccan carpets. After a short stop, we drive back towards Ouarzazate.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel or riad in Ouarzazate.

Day 5: Ouarzazate - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

After breakfast, we leave Ouarzazate and begin the return journey to Marrakech. The road crosses the High Atlas Mountains again through the Tizi n’Tichka pass.

Several stops can be made along the way for photos, coffee, or short breaks. You will pass mountain villages and panoramic landscapes before reaching Marrakech.

By the late afternoon, we arrive back in Marrakech. The 5 Days From Marrakech to Erg Chigaga Desert tour ends with drop-off at your accommodation.
